Anita Long proudly and comfortably wears many hats; a mother, a wife, a farmer, a small business owner and the founder of a not-for-profit organisation. She is a passionate recreational beekeeper with a focus on engaging others in beekeeping and building strong beekeeping networks locally, nationally, and internationally. Anita is the Founder and President of Tasmanian Junior Beekeepers, a not-forprofit organisation which was formed in 2017 as a way of giving children access to fee free beekeeping in a safe and inclusive environment. Currently Tasmanian Junior Beekeepers is the only youth focused beekeeping organisation in Australia. Anita was co-founder of the successful program Sister Hives Australia, a government-funded program to engage women+ in beekeeping. In addition to the 12 month program, Anita coordinated two Extreme Excellence world records for women in beekeeping, one in person for Australian participants and the other online for women around the globe. These world records continue to highlight women+ in beekeeping (with a current reach of over 4.8 million impacts globally). Throughout her beekeeping journey Anita has proven her ability to develop engaging learning opportunities and networks for others. Creating these unchartered pathways and giving the opportunity for others to follow, all whilst being in a volunteer capacity. Anita believes in creating a strong succession plan for the beekeeping industry and is dedicated to continuing creating access to beekeeping for all, but with a focus on those who often have greater barriers of entry such as women and children
